County Lifts North Beach Water Advisory

Coronado, CA (August 23, 2018) – County health officials lifted an advisory for North Beach on Thursday, August 22, one day after it issued it after City staff forwarded early results from North Beach samples taken on Monday, August 20, indicating bacteria (enterococcus) counts above public notification thresholds.

The City took the samples as part of a regularly scheduled, ocean water sampling program at North Beach. The City continued to conduct tests until the samples indicated the water test results are below advisory thresholds for recreational use.

The County Department of Environmental Health lifted the advisory at about 5 p.m. on August 23 after issuing the advisory at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Signs were placed in the area advising swimmers to avoid water contact.

Out of an abundance of caution, additional, non-scheduled ocean water samples were retrieved on Tuesday, August 21, at two locations at Central Beach. Prior to Monday’s North Beach result, these sample results were all negative.
